Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is that of locating a piano in her attic and becoming fascinated by the music it could make. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to study music, not for a career or hobby but as a way to develop. To achieve this, she began writing songs that were her own creations. As well as Bjork and Bjork, she also credits Leonard Cohen as an influence. She began performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mother said it could aid people in to not become famous through her music, but rather to help people see around them realize the significance of what they do and how they have an impact on the world. As a young girl she began to learn the piano, and when she was nine was writing music. It wasn't until she was 14 that she told her parents. There was no way she could have imagined to become Aurora. She claims she loves writing songs. She believes that music is an ideal method of feeling everything.
